Caramlised red onion


  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 3 Large Red onions (Chopped)
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Balsamic vinegar
  • 1 pinch Salt


Step 1
Heat the oil in a large pan over a low heat
Step 2
Add the onions with the salt and cook for around 20 minutes, stirring occasionally to stop them catching, until soft and golden. If the onions begin to burn, turn the heat down
Step 3
Add the sugar and balsamic to start the caramelisation process. Continue to cook over a low heat stirring occasionally until sticky and caramelised
